Future Technology Conference ~ Madison, WI

This week I will be traveling to Madison, WI to present at the Future Technology Conference (FTC). My presentation "Web 2.0 Literacy Tools to Transform Teaching and Learning" will not only focus on how to use some of the new Web technologies that are beginning to transform education, it will also put you well on your way to implementing these learning strategies within your classroom practice. The tools we will be looking at include image/video editing and production, communication and collaboration, writing and research, converters and widgets, presentations and virtual environments. These tools will allow teachers and students to express their creativity in any curricular area, and you will learn how each of these tools are being used in classrooms around the world to meet content and technology literacy standards.

This Web 2.0 presentation will also be streamed live with a back channel chat for all of you to participate in globally and for a professional development opportunity. The URL will be provided shortly.

I wish I could attend being so close in Milwaukee. If you are going to post what you are covering I'd love to take a look at it.

What tools will you be covering?

Reenergize and Refocus This Summer- Change Your Mindset!

It has been a whirlwind of a month already and it is only June 3rd. It has been an amazing week working with my Intel family in Phoenix, AZ. The experience to design, create and contribute to the greater good of the future of education has filled my edtech bucket. I am so very thankful and grateful to Vanessa Jones, Theresa Maves, Anne Batey, the entire Big Monocol team and Lars Lindstrom's video crew as a collaborative team we worked on an incredible upcoming video segment to support a game-infused learning series of online coursework. Cannot share any more at this time- but this content will be a game-changer of how we deliver ongoing professional development in the education world.
Working with inspired educators and incredible talented videographers has truly grounded me again this week, knowing that there are individuals in the edtech industry that constantly give 200%, never complain and contribute to a finalized product that will impact so many in so many countries worldwi…

SchoolNet South Africa Conference Reflections

Well....I am back, back after being gone for a week of travel and presenting in Bloemfontein, South Africa to present at the national SchoolNet SA Conference. I was thrilled to be asked back for the third time by good friends Gerald Roos and Janet Thomson from School Net.

It is always an adventurous journey to travel to South Africa, as there is no direct flight of how to get there- but the longest part of the journey is the flight from Atlanta, Georgio to Johannesburg, South Africa of 17 hours. The total air travel and airport exchanges take about 24-30 hours one way.  So.... yes I am one tired girl today, but I have a few days to catch up on my sleep and acclimate back to the 7 hour time change.

Upon my arrival to the Bloemfontein, South Africa I was greeted by the most lovely Janet Thomson, Executive Director of SchoolNet, who assisted me with my transportation to the hotel we would be staying at, and to also preview the venue of the conference location. This year's conference wa…
